Story of Honua!
Hi, I'm Sophie, founder of Honua Bars! I am a keen surfer, environmentalist, yogi, animal lover and vegan living on the Gold Coast. Coming from a scientific and mathematical background, I love formulation and the joy of creating top quality hair products that produce great results.
Honua Bars was started as a response to the plastic crisis we are currently facing, with an emphasis on ingredients that are responsibly sourced and gentle on your hair. I found myself frustrated by the amount of plastic shampoo and conditioner bottles I was churning through, knowing how little of it would be effectively recycled and the ultimate impact on marine life.
The shampoo bars available on the market seemed predominantly aimed at an older audience, and weren’t very attractively shaped, packaged or scented. Or worse, they weren't shampoo at all but were just soap, and thus detrimental to customers' hair. I sensed a gap in the market and an opportunity to allow a younger, more eco-minded audience a way to reduce their plastic consumption while still having a fun, awesome smelling product that gives them radiantly healthy hair.
